XI International Ballet Competition and Contest of Choreographers
Dedicated to the great Russian ballet star Marina Semenova
The Competition will be held in Moscow at the Bolshoi Theatre from June 10 till June 20, 2009.

Have you ever read Ballet Magazine? It’s first issue (at that time it was called Soviet Ballet) came out at the end of 1981 and it will be more than twenty years old. Raisa Struchkova was the main editor for fifteen years. Valeria Uralskaya, famous ballet specialist, now holds this post.
What is written about on the pages of Ballet Magazine? Of course, ballet. About it’s creators (composers, designers, choreographers and dancers), and about ballet productions, some which have become legends through the years, others, which are just coming to life on the stage.
Ballet critics, specialists, historians of ballet and people connected directly with the art of ballet share their knowledge. There are many colored, black and white pictures and sketches in Ballet Magazine to help you to picture scenery and performers etc. to ballet’s full beauty.
Despite the name Ballet Magazine and the fact that ballet is the main subject, articles dedicated to folk dance and contemporary choreography are also featured. Readers of different tastes and liking can find interesting and diverse information in the pages of this magazine.
Russia has a history of rich choreography, as well as outstanding training. You will find many articles about training traditions, the students and coaches and life in the ballet today. There is also information on the great dancers (and their coaches) of Russia: ballerinas such as Anna Pavlova and Galina Ulanova, Marina Semenova and Maya Plisetskaya, Natalia Makarova and Natalia Bessmertnova. Male dancers such as Vaslav Nijinskiy and Vladimir Vasiliev, Rudolph Nureyev and Mikhail Baryshnikov, Vladimir Malakhov, Nicolay Tsiskaridze, Igor Zelensky, Andrian Fadeev, Dmitry Gudanov: yesterday’s and today’s stars of Russian ballet.
Russian training of classical ballet technique is the reason of the beauty of the corps de ballet, important part of ballet performances, which is another aspect that is explored in Ballet magazine.
